We stayed in Yuma one more day, so we could go back to the dunes and play again yesterday. This time Sophie and the big camera stayed at home, so I could play too. I swear I must have moved a ton of sand while digging holes, and my shoulders are sore today. Sean rented an ATV and played around for awhile. Everyone had great fun.
We picked up a generator, so we could try boondocking (no hookups of any kind, which means you can stay places for free). Now we are staying in Slab City, which is an abandoned military site. I didn’t take any pictures today, but I will tomorrow. There is a wide variety of people here, some with fancy rigs, and some very…eccentric…people. We are parked next to some friends we met several months ago, they have a blog at liveworkdream.com. They are also traveling around, trying to figure out where they want to live. Funniest thing, they don’t want to live in Florida either.
One of the best things here is not having to look at ugly power lines all around, ruining the view of a gorgeous sunset. The bad thing is we just figured out the microwave draws too much power for the generator. I think the coffee maker will still work, so we’ll be okay.
